Position: Design Engineer – Portable Crushing and Screening Plants
Location: Farlough, NI
Reporting to: Engineering Team Lead
Working within the portable plant engineering team, the Design Engineer will be responsible for the development of new and maintenance of existing wheeled crushing and screening plants. Responsibilities include:
- Resolving problems at the root cause quickly and effectively and managing the engineering change process relating to wheeled platform engineering.
- Prototype development and production launch supervision.
- Following engineering standards and associated IT systems to ensure effective global management of released engineering data.
- Ensuring current and new products meet standards and performance levels specified for safety, function, reliability, and serviceability.
- Reducing manufacturing costs through improved design and consultation with the production department, purchasing, and suppliers.
- Investigating and addressing customer complaints in a timely manner.
- Driving standardization of components and sub-assemblies within the wheeled platform product line.
- Staying knowledgeable of machine component advancements and competitor design trends; applying the latest technology to new and existing designs where appropriate to stay current and innovative.
- Supporting technical publications with procedures and images for creating operation and maintenance manuals as well as parts books.
Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications:
- 2-5 years' experience.
- Degree educated in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment is a plus.
- Competent user of 3D Solid Modeling CAD, ideally Creo.
- General knowledge of engineering systems and standards.
- Analysis of welded steel structures and hydraulic systems.
- History of creativity and innovative thinking.
