Terex Ecotec, part of the wider Terex Materials Processing group, is an industry leader in the design and manufacture of wood processing, biomass and recycling equipment. We currently have an opportunity for a Design Engineer who will report to the Lead Engineer and will be based at our Campsie or Farlough manufacturing sites. The ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge of developing new and exciting products, finding more efficient and cost-effective methods of design and performance and ultimately delivering world class products that serve our ever-expanding global customer base.

Responsibilities
- Working with the relevant Lead Engineer, the Design Engineer will be responsible for both the continual product development of the existing machines in our range and the design & development of our next generation of mobile environmental equipment.
- Provide engineered solutions for the development of new products and the continual improvement of the existing Ecotec Range.
- Work with a team to investigate and address customer complaints, assist in the resolution of problems at the root cause quickly and effectively, implementing engineering changes where required.
- Ensure current and new products meet standards and performance levels specified for safety, function and reliability.
- Provide the Ecotec dealer network with the required support and service that they require, answering technical queries from dealers and customers.
- Produce a full design package for manufacturing including detailed drawings, exploded drawings, engineering BOMs etc.
- Reduce manufacturing cost through improved design and consultation with the production department, purchasing and suppliers.
- Follow group standards of in the areas of quality, FMEA, design-for-manufacture, prototype development and field testing.
- Follow group engineering standards and associated IT systems, to ensure effective global management of released engineering data.
- Stay knowledgeable of machine component advancements and competitor design trends; apply latest technology to new and existing designs where appropriate to stay current and innovative.

Experience & Qualifications:
- Competent user of 3D solid modelling CAD, ideally Creo, and familiarity with product data management (PDM) systems.
- Design experience in the mobile machinery industry or similar heavy equipment design.
- Good technical expertise in both mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Good English communication skill, both written and spoken.
- Degree educated or equivalent in Engineering.
- An understanding of the various applications that the equipment can operate in along with an appreciation for the expected performance of the machines.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Creativity and innovative thinking.
- Good presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Candidates should have a “can do” attitude and be able to work as part of a team to meet the deadlines required.
- Able to assess workload and commit to realistic timelines.
- Can identify risks both technical and commercial with proposed product change or new product.
