Lead Manufacturing Systems Engineer

Reporting to: Production Control Manager

Hours of Work: 39 hours per week

Working within the Production Control department, the Lead MSE will be responsible for the development and improvement of existing manufacturing systems, processes, procedures, and equipment in a dynamic manufacturing environment. They will need the ability to project manage small to medium sized projects from initiation to completion. The Lead MSE will oversee the day-to-day activities of a small manufacturing systems team and, along with the Production Control manager, ensure the consistent development, training, and performance management of this team.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Creation and Implementation of Manufacturing Bills of Materials, including Make / Buy Decisions, insourcing & outsourcing projects.
• Establish / implement containment and root cause fixes to manufacturing issues.
• Implement Best Practice Standard Work onto the Shop floor (machine shop).
• Implement Lean Manufacturing principles including 5S & Kanban.
• Production Support to individual production Departments.
• Lead & manage the NPPD Process for operations in terms of driving the operations team to meet manufacturing plans, deliverables & Gate reviews, standard hours reviews.
• Assist the planning team with Clear To Build process to ensure the correct spec of machine is configured.
• Managing people including performance reviews & career development.

What you'll bring:

• Demonstration of relevant engineering knowledge gained through on-job experience / third level qualification.
• Experience leading, training, developing and motivating teams.
• Competent in use of computers including Microsoft Office.
• Experience of 3D modelling e.g. CREO & MRP e.g. Oracle would be advantageous.
• Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Good Presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Project management skills.
• A Can do attitude and ability to interact with a multi-functional team.
• Ability to work with others with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
• Able to assess workload and commit to realistic timelines.
• Able to prioritise workload and quickly establish critical path activities.
• Able to investigate root cause of process non-performance.
