Job Purpose: Terex is a fast-moving engineering company seeking to recruit an HR Manager, who is ready for their next career challenge. In this role, you will report to the HR Director and have day-to-day autonomy and accountability in relation to the Coalville business, which is heavily focused on operations. You will be a seasoned HR professional, commercially astute, and interact regularly with various key internal stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, conscientious, and able to work on their own initiative to deliver professional HR solutions for the business needs.

Job Overview: The Human Resources Manager will take responsibility for day-to-day HR generalist duties and for providing customer-focused advice and support to the General Manager, managers, supervisors, and team members in line with employment policies, procedures, and legal requirements. You will advise and support managers in all day-to-day operational HR matters, acting as a true business partner and ensuring the overall HR service adds value to the business. You will also be involved in a project capacity to ensure HR is adding value long term, working closely with stakeholders to understand business and operational efficiencies and improve business performance by driving the people agenda to achieve business results. You will have responsibility for the Site & HR Administrator, who will report directly to you, and that role also provides HR administration support for two of the N. Ireland factories. Additionally, you will have responsibility for a small Terex business in Turkey and some Genie UK team members.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with line managers and supervisors to provide business partnering support to ensure the effective and seamless delivery of end-to-end HR processes.
  • Proactive engagement with line managers and supervisors will be a fundamental feature of the role.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers, supervisors, and team members.
  • Support line managers and supervisors to set goals for Team Members, assess capability, and drive calibration across the performance management cycle.
  • Management of the recruitment life cycle from inception to completion, partnering with hiring managers to ensure quality of talent.
  • Lead Team Member engagement and improvement initiatives including community initiatives.
  • Manage the onboarding, HR orientation & probation review processes for all new Team Members.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures and ensure they are applied consistently across the site and updated where necessary.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and instil HR practices/processes which add value.
  • Proactively manage absence in conjunction with managers and supervisors.
  • Professional handling of disciplinary issues, grievances, and other complex employee relations caseload.
  • Actively managing Talent Reviews and Succession planning within the business.
  • Devising the site training plan, organising, and delivering training & development for team members at all levels.
  • Manage spend within the HR budget and review on a regular basis.
  • Ensure the collation of and accurate payroll administration for bi-weekly paid and salaried team members.
  • Generate HR reports & statistics to assist with operational management and decisions for the business.
  • Working closely with the union representatives on site regarding annual wage negotiations and other employee relations matters.
  • Managing and developing the Site & HR Administrator.
  • Remote HR Support for a small Terex business in Turkey.

The successful candidate should ideally have:

  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) level 5 or above or similar relevant professional qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience of working ideally within a manufacturing environment at a senior advisory level in a HR capacity.
  • Previous experience should illustrate a proven track record of acting as a true HR business partner where you have provided operational HR support and taken ownership of key projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent working knowledge of UK employment legislation and the ability to apply it in a practical manner within our manufacturing environment.
  • Competency in MS Office tools and HR Information Systems.
  • Excellent employee relations experience, combined with experience of working in a unionised environment.
  • Adept at working in a fast-paced environment with a creative mindset, demonstrating an understanding of how short-term decisions impact the long-term goals of the organisation.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to drive culture agenda effectively.
  • Proven influencer, significant experience generating buy-in from supervisors and managers.
  • Strong leadership skills, able to deliver and shape a vision and build on relationships with key stakeholders based on collaboration.
