Position: Placement Electrical Engineer

Division: Terex MP Group Engineering

Location: Campsie

Duration: Fixed term contract up to 12 months

About the Role: The role of the Placement Electrical Engineer is to serve new product development (NPD), drive continuous improvement and support the Terex aftersales teams. The Engineer will be responsible for design of mobile DC & 3 phase electrical control systems, managing projects & ensuring targets are met. The role will be responsible for providing technical expertise, interfacing with and acting as the link between functions, and providing inter department communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Management: Co-ordinate & support NPPD projects for Terex - ensuring projects needs are interpreted accurately.
  • Assist in developing concepts & proposals; ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget & all key objectives are met.
  • Provide appropriate technical support on both existing product and NPD.
  • Co-ordinate with the Global Engineering team, supporting individual project leaders.
  • Take ownership & manage the introduction of new technology to ensure robust, repeatable & stable test periods.
  • Standards, Health & Safety: Design products that comply with Company & industry standards & legislation with regards to machine safety.
  • Work with key stakeholders to meet the Terex target of ZERO harm.
  • Ensure all Health and Safety procedures are followed in accordance with company policies and in the creation of project risk analysis.
  • Value Engineering: Create accurate electrical schematics, bill of materials and technical documentation.
  • Write Functional Specifications for software.
  • Validate PLC & HMI software through testing.
  • Ensure all project documentation & technical files are compiled and stored correctly.
  • Support Operations teams on improvement projects & focused improvements on Terex products.
  • Support product cost reduction and product reliability improvement efforts.
  • Directly contribute to and support continuous improvement in line with the business demand.
  • Occasionally perform equipment commissioning, installation and testing both in Company and on-site.

Qualifications:

Working towards degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent qualification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working in heavy equipment industry desirable.
  • Knowledge in design of 3 phase electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine malfunction.
  • Experience working with Variable Frequency Drives and Soft Starters.
  • Experience in electrical control panel design e.g. Zuken E3 Series desired.
  • Experience in design of 24V DC control systems including CAN bus, Modbus etc. networks.
  • Development of PLC Software beneficial.
  • Knowledge & understanding of hydraulic systems.
  • Independent and self-motivated individual.
  • Project management and analytical skills.
  • Presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Some travel may be required.
