The Business
Our client is a well-established UK food manufacturing business. The business operates across multiple sites and combines farming, processing, packing and distribution activities, supplying both conventional and premium product ranges across the UK market.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Group Financial Controller will lead the financial control function across the group, ensuring robust financial reporting, strong governance and the delivery of timely, accurate management information.
This is a high-profile role requiring a technically strong finance leader who can partner with operational and commercial stakeholders whilst driving continuous improvement across finance processes, controls and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure the timely production of accurate management accounts and board reporting packs.
- Own statutory reporting, audit management and compliance requirements.
- Manage group consolidations across multiple entities and operating locations.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting processes.
- Develop and strengthen financial controls, governance and risk management frameworks.
- Partner closely with operational, commercial and supply chain teams to improve financial performance.
- Drive process improvement initiatives and support wider business transformation projects.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, advisers and other stakeholders.
- Lead, coach and develop the finance team, creating a high-performance culture.
- Support strategic projects, acquisitions, business integrations and investment initiatives where required.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate is likely to be:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- An experienced Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller or Head of Finance.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including statutory reporting and consolidations.
- Experience operating within a multi-site environment.
- Background within manufacturing, food, FMCG, agriculture, supply chain or other operationally intensive sectors would be highly advantageous.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior leadership level.
- Hands-on, commercially minded and capable of balancing strategic thinking with day-to-day execution.
- Advanced systems and process improvement capability.
