An established food and beverage manufacturer needs three temporary Credit Controllers to reduce overdue balances and restore cash collection following a new ERP implementation. Each will own a portfolio of customer accounts, chase payment and resolve the causes of non-payment. Full system training provided.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collections:
Manage assigned customer accounts and reduce overdue balances.
- Own a portfolio of assigned customer accounts, prioritising the highest-value and oldest debt.
- Contact customers by phone and email to secure payment of outstanding balances.
- Negotiate firmly but professionally, and follow up promptly on missed payment promises.
2. Query Resolution:
Identify and resolve the reasons for non-payment.
- Why invoices remain unpaid, including pricing, VAT and invoice detail errors.
- Work with sales, customer service and finance colleagues to correct invoices or raise credit notes.
- Reconcile customer accounts and ensure cash is allocated accurately.
3. Records & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records and clear visibility of progress.
- Record all customer contact, payment commitments and disputes in the ERP system.
- Provide regular updates on collections, open disputes and at-risk accounts.
- Highlight recurring invoicing or process issues so root causes can be fixed.
SUCCESS MEASURES
- Overdue balances on assigned accounts reduced in line with agreed targets by December.
- Cash collected against weekly and monthly targets.
- Invoice queries and disputes resolved quickly, with clear ownership and follow-up.
- Accurate, up-to-date account notes and collections reporting.
