I am seeking an experienced, hands-on IT professional to take ownership of IT systems, infrastructure and third-party suppliers within a large, multi-site retail and services business operating across the UK.
You will ensure systems are reliable, issues are resolved quickly and technology continues to support both store-based and head-office teams effectively. This opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives working independently, enjoys being close to the detail and takes pride in solving real operational problems rather than managing a large internal IT team.
Alongside core support and infrastructure responsibilities, you will play a key role in shaping the next phase of the company's IT strategy, including the transition to a single managed service provider and greater adoption of Microsoft 365, automation and AI-enabled insight.
- Own day-to-day IT operations across head office and a large multi-site retail estate
- Act as the primary conduit between the business and external IT partners
- Support and maintain on-site servers, networks and core systems including Sage and retail till systems
- Manage and optimise Microsoft 365 services including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and Power BI
- Respond quickly and pragmatically to operational IT issues that impact trading or store performance
- Support data, reporting and automation initiatives, including Power BI, SQL-based reporting tools and AI-driven insight
Proven experience in a hands-on IT support, systems or infrastructure role. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, on-prem servers and IT infrastructure. Experience managing and coordinating third-party IT suppliers or MSPs. Organised, persistent and able to work independently without a wider IT team. Exposure to automation, data reporting, Power BI or AI-driven solutions.
Predominantly remote working, with occasional travel to North East England. High-autonomy role with genuine ownership of IT across the business. Opportunity to influence IT direction and modernise systems without heavy bureaucracy.
