The Role
As a Lead Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing and maintaining a modern enterprise data platform using Microsoft Fabric, working within a wider Azure data environment. You'll design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines using Fabric, Python and PySpark, while mentoring the existing BI team and helping shape best practice across the platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the enterprise data platform using Microsoft Fabric.
- Design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines using Fabric, Python and PySpark.
- Develop and maintain data solutions within a modern Azure cloud environment.
- Ensure data quality, security, reliability, and performance across the platform.
- Mentor and upskill the BI team across Python, Spark and Microsoft Fabric.
- Shape technical standards and best practices for data engineering and platform development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot, optimise, and enhance existing data pipelines to improve efficiency and scalability.
About You
You will be a Lead Data Engineer who is passionate about building modern, scalable data platforms. You'll have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Python, PySpark and Azure, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and thrive in a collaborative environment where you can make a real impact by setting best practice and mentoring an established BI team.
Key requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Python and PySpark.
- Proven experience designing and developing Fabric data platforms, pipelines and Lakehouse solutions.
- Experience building scalable data solutions within Azure, including Data Factory, Databricks and Data Lake.
- Strong data engineering and cloud architecture expertise, with experience mentoring and upskilling technical teams.
