This is a genuinely hands-on role where you'll have the autonomy to shape the automation function, influence engineering standards, and help build highly scalable software used by leading organisations in a heavily regulated environment.

The Role

  • Define and drive the overall automation strategy.
  • Develop automated UI, API and end-to-end testing solutions.

  • Collaborate closely with Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers and Product teams.
  • Mentor and support engineers in automation best practices.

  • Continuously improve test coverage, reliability and release confidence.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
  • Proven background leading automation initiatives within software engineering teams.
  • Strong API testing experience.
  • Experience working CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery practices.
  • Excellent understanding of software quality principles.
  • Ability to influence engineering teams and drive quality improvements.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted testing tools.

What's On Offer

  • Opportunity to own and shape the automation strategy across a growing engineering function
  • Significant influence over testing standards, tooling decisions and quality processes
  • Work on a sophisticated platform leveraging automation, AI and data-driven technology
  • Collaborative, engineering-led culture with direct access to technical leadership
  • Modern technology stack including Playwright, TypeScript, cloud technologies and CI/CD
  • Investment in emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development and testing
  • Hybrid working environment with flexible working arrangements
  • Clear progression opportunities as the business continues to scale
  • Β£60,000 and comprehensive benefits package
