An established and innovative FinTech company is seeking a highly skilled Lead DevOps Engineer to drive the evolution of its cloud infrastructure and DevOps capabilities. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in fast-paced, cloud-native environments and is passionate about automation, scalability, and reliability.
You will lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of DevOps practices across the engineering organisation, working closely with Software Engineering, Architecture, and Security teams to deliver highly performant and secure systems.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a small DevOps/Platform Engineering team, providing technical guidance and best-practice direction.
- Own and evolve the AWS-based cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and scalability.
- Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes clusters to support microservices-based applications.
- Build and optimise Terraform modules and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) standards for repeatability and automation.
- Champion CI/CD best practices and oversee the delivery pipeline, introducing improvements to speed up deployment cycles and increase reliability.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering and Product teams to enhance developer experience and streamline release processes.
- Implement observability tooling and practices to ensure proactive monitoring, incident response, and system reliability.
- Ensure compliance with FinTech security and regulatory standards across infrastructure and platform services.
- Evaluate and introduce new DevOps tools, technologies, and processes that align with business goals.
- 5+ years in DevOps, Platform, or Site Reliability Engineering roles, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
- Advanced hands-on experience with AWS (e.g., EC2, ECS/EKS, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, S3).
- Strong expertise in Kubernetes (EKS preferred), including cluster management, Helm, and microservices deployment.
- Expert knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code patterns in production environments.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, ArgoCD, Jenkins).
- Strong knowledge of networking, security best practices, and cloud governance.
- Proficiency with scripting/automation languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
- Experience working in regulated industries or with security-first engineering environments.
- Experience within financial services or FinTech environments.
- Knowledge of service mesh, secrets management, and policy governance tools (e.g., Istio, Vault, OPA).
- Exposure to cost optimisation strategies and FinOps principles.
- Experience with SOC 2, ISO27001, or PCI-DSS compliance frameworks.
