Job Description

Role Profile: Data Engineer\\n Reporting to: Lead Data Engineer\\n\\nBackground\\n A rapidly growing specialist (re)insurance organisation is building out its technology and data infrastructure. This role supports the delivery of secure, scalable cloud data solutions, aligning with business and compliance needs.\\n\\nKey Responsibilities\\n\\nDesign, build, and maintain cloud-native data pipelines (Azure/GCP)\\n\\nImplement scalable data management frameworks: observability, validation, lineage\\n\\nTranslate business needs into effective technical prototypes and solutions\\n\\nCollaborate with stakeholders, data teams, and service partners\\n\\nEnsure data security, governance, and regulatory compliance\\n\\nMonitor and optimise cloud resource usage and performance\\n\\nAutomate data lifecycle tasks to improve speed, consistency, and reliability\\n\\nSupport analytics teams with clean, modelled data for self-service tools\\n\\nMentor peers, share documentation, and support technical best practices\\n\\nIntegrate infrastructure and data services across cloud platforms\\n\\nSkills and Experience\\n\\nExpertise in cloud platforms:\\n\\nAzure: Data Factory, Synapse, Monitor, ARM\\n\\nGCP: BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub\\n\\nStrong knowledge of data warehousing, storage, and modelling\\n\\nExperience with ETL/ELT processes and performance tuning\\n\\nHands-on scripting (Python, PowerShell) for automation\\n\\nFamiliarity with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)\\n\\nInfrastructure as Code: Terraform, ARM templates\\n\\nWorking knowledge of data catalogues (Azure Purview, GCP Data Catalog)\\n\\nKnowledge of GDPR, HIPAA, RBAC, encryption, and auditing\\n\\nInsurance data familiarity: placements, claims, policies, underwriting\\n\\nEffective stakeholder communication and delivery focus\\n\\nStrong project and time management in fast-paced environments\\n\\nDesirable Tools and Tech\\n\\nPower BI, Tableau, Looker, Domo\\n\\nData governance and metadata management tools\\n\\nDevOps for data workflows, hybrid/multi-cloud architectures\\n\\nMonitoring and cost optimisation tools (Azure Monitor, GCP cost tools)\\n\\nCulture and Conduct\\n\\nAct as a role model for integrity, professionalism, and teamwork\\n\\nUphold all compliance, legal, and internal policy standards\\n\\nSeek innovation and continuous improvement in all technical efforts
