We are seeking an experienced AWS Security Consultant to design, build and implement secure AWS environments for clients operating in highly regulated Financial Services environments. This role is hands-on and delivery focused. The successful consultant will be a technical executor who actively writes code, implements Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and configures AWS security services directly. This is not a governance-only, oversight, or project management role. You will act as a trusted advisor, able to clearly explain security decisions, guide customers through AWS best practices, and justify architectural choices with confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement end-to-end AWS security architectures for regulated financial services clients
- Build and secure AWS landing zones with strong governance and guardrails
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation
- Configure and operate core AWS security and governance services including:
- AWS Control Tower
- IAM and identity boundaries
- AWS Config and CloudTrail
- KMS and encryption (at rest and in transit)
- Secrets Manager
- Threat detection and monitoring services
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including data sovereignty, encryption, and secure data handling
- Advise clients on AWS Well-Architected Framework security principles
- Work closely with engineering and security teams to embed security into delivery pipelines
- Clearly communicate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven hands-on experience as an AWS Security Consultant / Engineer / Architect
- Strong background delivering security solutions within Financial Services or other highly regulated industries
- Deep practical experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Strong knowledge of AWS security governance, logging, monitoring and identity services
- Solid understanding of encryption, key management, and secure data handling
- Ability to actively configure, deploy, and troubleshoot AWS services
- Excellent communication and client-facing consulting skills
Certifications:
- AWS Certified Security – Specialty (essential)
- Additional certifications such as CISSP, CCSP or similar are highly desirable
Nice to Have:
- Experience working in consulting or client-facing delivery roles
- Exposure to DevSecOps practices and CI/CD security integration
- Experience coaching customers through cloud security best practice
