AI Engineer – Remote – London
£120,000 – £160,000 + bonus & benefits
My client is seeking an AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy large language models and autonomous AI agents at scale. You’ll work across the full ML lifecycle—from dataset curation and model development to MLOps, production deployment, and integration of agentic reasoning pipelines into real-world applications.

Responsibilities
- Design, fine-tune, and optimize transformer-based LLMs and multimodal models.
- Implement prompt engineering, instruction tuning, and RLHF for high-quality outputs.
- Apply model compression, quantization, and distillation for low-latency inference.
- Develop multi-step reasoning agents and autonomous workflows powered by LLMs.
- Build planning, decision-making, and task execution pipelines using tools such as LangChain or custom orchestrators.
- Implement safety, validation, and ethical guardrails for autonomous AI behaviors.
- Curate and preprocess large-scale text, code, and multimodal datasets for supervised, self-supervised, and agentic learning.
- Design and maintain embedding pipelines and vector stores (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate).
- Deploy and scale LLMs and autonomous agents on cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) using Kubernetes, Docker, or serverless architectures.
- Automate CI/CD pipelines, model retraining, and monitoring for performance, drift, and reliability.
- Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and task-oriented AI agents for enterprise applications.
- Integrate AI agents with APIs, chatbots, and knowledge management systems.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face Transformers) to accelerate agentic AI deployment.
- Optimize distributed training on GPUs/TPUs using DeepSpeed, Ray, or Horovod.
- Implement mixed-precision training, model sharding, and checkpointing strategies for high-performance inference.
Requirements
- 5+ years in AI/ML engineering or applied research, with deep experience in LLMs, generative AI, or autonomous AI agents.
- Strong programming skills in Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Hands‑on experience with agentic AI, multi‑step reasoning, and decision‑making pipelines.
- Knowledge of RAG, vector databases, embeddings, and autonomous task orchestration.
- Experience deploying AI models in production with MLOps best practices.
- Cloud experience: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Advanced degree in AI, Machine Learning, NLP, Computer Science, or related field.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to translate research into production systems.
