Senior Fabric Data Engineer - £500/pd Outside IR35

6-Month Contract | £500/day Outside IR35 | Fully Remote (UK)

We are partnering with a well-established organisation embarking on a significant data transformation journey and are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join them on an initial 6-month contract.

This is a hands-on delivery role requiring someone who can quickly assess a complex data environment, resolve critical data extraction and synchronisation issues, and restore confidence in reporting capabilities. You'll play a key role in stabilising current operations while helping shape the organisation's longer-term move towards a modern data platform built on Microsoft Fabric.

The Opportunity

The organisation relies on a large and complex database environment that supports critical business processes and reporting. Due to issues with existing synchronisation and data extraction processes, key stakeholders are struggling to access the information they need, creating significant operational and regulatory challenges.

As the senior technical lead on the engagement, you will be expected to rapidly identify root causes, implement solutions, support reporting teams, and provide clear communication around delivery plans, dependencies, and timelines.

This role would suit an experienced Data Engineer who is comfortable operating independently, solving complex problems, and engaging confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve data extraction and synchronisation issues across a complex data landscape.
• Restore reliable access to business-critical reporting data.
• Support reporting teams in accessing and consuming data effectively.
• Design, optimise, and maintain ETL processes.
• Work with stakeholders to understand business and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Provide realistic timelines, risk assessments, and remediation plans.
• Improve data reliability, integrity, and operational processes.
• Contribute to the organisation's longer-term migration and modernisation initiatives within Microsoft Fabric.
• Document solutions and ensure knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise with:
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Microsoft Fabric
  • ETL development and optimisation
  • SQL
  • SSRS
• Experience troubleshooting large-scale data integration and synchronisation challenges.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, data pipelines, and reporting platforms.
• Ability to quickly understand legacy systems and complex data structures.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working in fast-paced environments with critical business deadlines.

Desirable Experience

• Experience supporting regulatory or compliance-driven reporting.
• Experience modernising legacy data platforms.
• Exposure to pension, financial services, or highly regulated environments.
• Experience delivering cloud-based data transformation programmes.

Contract Details

• 6-month initial contract
• £500 per day
• Outside IR35
• Fully remote within the UK
• Immediate start available
