The Role
As a Data Engineer / Data Modeller, you'll play a key role in designing scalable data solutions across Azure, with a particular focus on Azure Cosmos DB and NoSQL data modelling. You'll design and optimise data models, schemas and data structures, while considering performance, scalability and cost. You'll also support data migration and integration projects, working with technologies such as Azure Data Factory and SQL to build pipelines and ensure data is accurately validated and reconciled. You'll work closely with architects, analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust data models and well-structured solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable data models across SQL and NoSQL, with a strong focus on Azure Cosmos DB
- Design and optimise Cosmos DB models, including partitioning, indexing, performance, scalability, and cost.
- Define and implement data contracts, including schemas, versioning, and validation rules.
- Design and orchestrate ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory.
- Support data migrations, including mapping, validation, reconciliation, and data quality.
- Develop and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.
- Translate business and application requirements into scalable data models and schemas.
- Troubleshoot and optimise data pipelines, models, and queries for performance and reliability.
