Job Purpose: In this role, you will be responsible for designing projects that have been assessed and prioritised, applying the most appropriate Tensar solutions in a timely and effective manner. Your designs will be technically robust, aligned with customer requirements, and commercially advantageous for both Tensar and the client. Each project should clearly demonstrate and deliver value‑added solutions. As a Senior Design/CAD Engineer, you will take full ownership of the projects assigned to you. You will communicate proactively, build strong internal and external relationships, and ensure the production of accurate design packages, drawings, and material take‑offs to the highest standard.
Key responsibilities:
- Proactively protects own work life balance while remaining focused on ensuring safe working practices that protect themself and others.
- Regularly and fully utilise Tensar’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system in the upkeep and management of customer and sales data in line with agreed protocol.
- Communicate internally with colleagues positively and professionally sharing progress, offering solutions, and advising if deadline and/or specifications cannot be achieved.
- Communicate professionally and with integrity externally with Clients, Consultants and Contractors in a timely manner.
- Consistently produce accurate and fully optimised design packages, ensuring all technical and customer information is correct, in a timely manner and in accordance with the Tensar’s brand to meet or exceed Service Level Agreements and meet customer expectations.
- Identify and communicate cross selling opportunities to the Commercial Team.
- Take personal responsibility for improving and developing their own skillset by raising the levels at which they can design.
- Personal responsibility for a brilliant customer experience, achieving positive net promoter scores and repeat business.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement for the design team.
- Take ownership of projects including information gathering from the customer when required.

Experience and Qualifications:
- Degree‑qualified Civil Engineer (or equivalent) with appropriate geotechnical experience and a good understanding of geotechnical risk management.
- Good industry knowledge of design codes i.e., BS8006, CDM and others.
- Proficient in using AutoCAD for creating 2D engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of BIM standards and working within a BIM environment to a customer’s requirements.
- Some knowledge of ProjectWise or similar Common Data Environments (CDEs).
- Excellent time management with the ability to prioritise particular workstreams.
- Good team player who recognises they are part of the wider UK commercial team.
- Focus on maximizing Gross Margins for Tensar.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ideally capable of communicating in multiple languages (though not essential).
- Good IT skills with practical experience of Microsoft Office, Excel, CRM and other data management systems.
