The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Privacy Counsel to support our client's legal department during a temporary maternity leave cover. This role is based in the South East of England , with a hybrid work arrangement requiring at least two days per week in office at a major hub in Surrey or Greater London . Key Details
- Commitment : Full-time, 12-month engagement.
- Start Date : 17 February 2025.
- Reporting To : Chief Privacy Officer.
- Location : Hybrid – At least two days per week in office (Surrey/Greater London).
- Compensation : Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Privacy Team to implement and evolve a globally comprehensive privacy program.
- Assist with data privacy rights response processes (e.g., access or deletion requests).
- Support data mapping, DPIAs, and regulator enquiries.
- Develop and update internal policies and guidance on privacy and data governance.
- Advise on auditor, regulator, and third-party relationships.
- Manage tools and certifications supporting compliance programs (e.g., cookie compliance, PIA/DPIA).
- Provide legal research and practical advice on emerging privacy regulations.
- Ensure privacy-by-design principles are embedded in product development, marketing/ad-tech, cloud gaming, and related areas.
Qualifications
- UK, EU, or Common Law qualified lawyer with 4+ years’ relevant privacy experience . Preference for experience in the European Economic Area or the gaming/entertainment industry.
- Expertise in consumer privacy, data practices, and information governance.
- Proven experience with technology contracts, including Data Processing Agreements.
- Strong ability to work independently and lead cross-functional projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong judgment, and analytical abilities.
- Certifications such as CIPP or CIPP-E are a plus.
- Technical background (e.g., computer science) is a bonus.

This role will be structured as an independent contractor engagement through Tenor Legal. Candidates must provide evidence of professional indemnity insurance .
