Tennial Personnel are looking for a reliable and hands-on Property Renovation Assistant to support a long-term renovation project based at a private countryside property in Laxfield, Suffolk. This is an ongoing, temporary opportunity working Monday to Friday, typically 8:00am to 4:00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Hours may be flexible depending on the candidate, and there is potential for additional and weekend work where required. This role is ideal for someone practical, hands-on, and comfortable working in a dusty, traditional renovation environment.

You will be working closely alongside the property owner as an assistant, supporting a wide range of renovation and general labouring duties. This is a long-term project expected to run for several months, with occasional days where work may not be required due to the employer being off-site for business commitments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with general property renovation work within a large 200-year-old property.
  • Carry out demolition tasks such as pulling down ceilings and dismantling stud walls using basic hand tools.
  • Clear, sort, and dispose of building waste including rubble, timber, and general debris.
  • Load and manage skips safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness across the work areas.
  • Assist with construction tasks including building stud walls, installing plasterboard, fitting insulation, and supporting basic electrical preparation work such as pulling cables.
  • Work closely with the property owner, following instructions and supporting day-to-day renovation activities.

All tools, PPE (dust masks, goggles, hard hats, gloves, disposable overalls) will be provided. Candidates must supply their own safety boots or safety trainers, ideally with anti-perforation soles.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to carry out manual labour in a demanding environment.
  • Practical mindset with basic DIY skills and confidence using hand tools.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work consistently over a long-term period.
  • Positive attitude with a strong “can do” approach to work.
  • Comfortable working in dusty, aged property conditions.
  • Able to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a small team.
  • Non-smoker preferred.

Qualifications Required:

  • No formal qualifications required.
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and general DIY is advantageous.
  • Safety awareness when working in construction or renovation environments.
