Tennial Personnel are currently recruiting for a reliable and enthusiastic Cook/Chef to join a friendly village pub just outside of Stowmarket on a part-time, temporary to permanent basis after a successful 12 week working period. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cook who takes pride in preparing fresh, wholesome pub food and would enjoy working in a welcoming, community-focused environment. The role offers around 25 hours per week, with flexibility around working arrangements.

The Role

  • Ordering, preparing and cooking fresh, quality pub meals.
  • Managing food preparation, kitchen hygiene and food safety compliance.
  • Supervising sessional kitchen staff and working positively alongside volunteers.
  • Maintaining clean and organised preparation areas.
  • Managing washing-up and general kitchen duties during quieter periods.
  • Running kitchen service independently during off-peak periods.
  • Clearing down and cleaning the kitchen following service.
  • Bringing new ideas and creativity to the menu and overall food offering.

Working Hours:

The pub is closed on Monday and Tuesday, with working hours across Wednesday to Sunday. Typical service times include: Wednesday – Saturday: Lunch 12:00pm–2:00pm and evening service 6:00pm–8:00pm. Sunday: Breakfast 10:00am–11:30am and lunch 12:00pm–2:00pm. The position is around 25 hours per week, with flexibility available for the right candidate.

Skills Required

  • Previous experience working in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Ability to prepare and cook a range of traditional pub-style meals.
