Tennial Personnel are currently recruiting for a reliable, enthusiastic and customer-focused Assistant Manager / Cook to join our client’s waterfront café based in Levington on a temporary to permanent or permanent basis depending on business requirements. The successful candidate will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the café, supporting with food and drink preparation, customer service, stock and supply ordering, and general operational duties. This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working with customers and has a passion for food and hospitality. The successful candidate will need to have a good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling practices, along with excellent communication and organisational skills. Previous cooking or café/hospitality experience would be preferred, although the right attitude and willingness to learn are equally important. Due to the waterfront location, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own transport. Hours: 5 days out of 7, including weekends, 8:00AM – 4:00PM Key Responsibilities: Preparing and serving a range of food and drinks to a high standard. Ensuring food is prepared, handled and stored safely in accordance with food hygiene regulations. Greeting customers in a friendly and professional manner and providing excellent customer service. Taking customer orders and handling payments where required. Supporting the day-to-day running of the café and assisting with general operational duties. Ordering food, drink and other supplies to ensure the café remains adequately stocked. Monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages or requirements. Ensuring food preparation areas, kitchen facilities and customer areas are kept clean, tidy and hygienic. Following all company food safety, health and safety and hygiene procedures. Supporting with opening and closing duties as required. Assisting with the supervision and smooth running of the café in the absence of senior management. Dealing with customer queries and resolving any issues in a professional and helpful manner. Supporting other members of the café team during busy periods. Ensuring a consistently high standard of food, service and cleanliness is maintained. Skills Required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly and approachable manner. Previous cooking, café, hospitality or food service experience would be preferred. Good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling practices. Ability to prepare food confidently and work efficiently in a busy environment. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Reliable and responsible approach to work, with good attendance and timekeeping. Customer-focused attitude with a professional and positive approach. Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team. Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and presentation. Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends. Full UK driving licence and access to own transport due to the location of the café. Qualifications Required Previous experience in a cooking, café, hospitality or food preparation environment would be advantageous. Good understanding of food hygiene and food handling procedures.
