Purpose of the role: Responsible for the smooth day‑to‑day management of the transport operation, ensuring delivery of cost, service, Health & Safety, compliance, and people KPIs. Leads the transport team and fleet to meet customer and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage labour, fleet, and daily transport plans to optimise cost, service, and performance
- Ensure customer deliveries meet specification with minimal waste
- Drive Health & Safety, legal, and policy compliance across the depot
- Maintain fleet compliance (defects, servicing, MOTs) and operational readiness
- Monitor KPIs, productivity, quality targets, and operational costs
- Proactively communicate with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams
- Lead, performance‑manage, coach, and develop the transport team
- Manage investigations, audits, incidents, and corrective actions
- Support monthly reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
- Proven management experience in FMCG/logistics environments
- Strong people leadership and performance management skills
- Experience with fleet and transport operations
- KPI‑driven with excellent problem‑solving skills
- Highly focused on quality and Health & Safety standards
- Organised, resilient, and effective in fast‑paced environments
- Strong communicator with good IT skills (MS Office)
- Flexible approach to working patterns
- Transport Managers CPC (National) required
