Summary of Position
Implement corporate/division policies and programs, including managing national and local labor agreements, safety and health, recruiting, benefits, insurance, and personnel policies. Responsible for the HR department budget and supervising exempt and non-exempt employees. Handle sensitive and confidential information with sound judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy. Extensive knowledge of company policies, labor laws, and negotiation processes is essential.
Principal Accountabilities
- Develop and lead a team to interview employment candidates in compliance with laws.
- Administer employee and labor relations, including grievance procedures, workers' compensation, and wage and salary administration.
- Maintain equitable labor and employee relations environments through policy administration.
- Provide leadership development for managers, employees, and trainees.
- Support managers with performance management duties.
- Guide Plant Manager and staff on union matters, benefits, and hiring processes.
- Promote company image and employee welfare programs.
- Oversee employee benefits, including benefit conversions and COBRA administration.
- Perform other HR duties as required.
Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree with 5 years of HR management experience in a union environment. Preferred: Master's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field, with PHR or SPHR certification.
Minimum Experience Requirements
At least 3 years' experience in an industrial setting managing CBAs, contract negotiations, and employment practices. Strong coaching experience and interaction with Plant Managers. Exposure to employment policies, disciplinary processes, grievance procedures, and FMLA administration.
