Overview

This is an excellent opportunity to join our established Midlands team, where you\’ll be supported in developing and applying your advisory and insolvency expertise. You’ll work alongside experienced practitioners, advising boards, management teams, lenders, and shareholders across a broad spectrum of underperforming or financially stressed companies, from SMEs to PLCs. Our team has led high-profile mandates, including acting as Special Manager for Specialty Steel UK Limited, providing input into the Thames Water Restructuring Plan, and acting as Special Administrator for Bulb Energy.

Senior Consultant – Responsibilities

  • Client Service – Be part of project teams on a diverse range of challenging engagements, advising corporates, creditors and other financial stakeholders on Restructuring Advisory, Contingency Planning and Insolvency projects.
  • Business Development – Support business development activities and generate sales in the market.
  • People and Leadership – Provide guidance and support to team members to create an inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Client Service

  • Be a key team member on financial restructuring engagements on a day-to-day basis, including managing junior staff.
  • Produce high quality deliverables within planned timescales.
  • Develop distinctive client relationships.
  • Support and contribute to client presentations.
  • Help meet team-specific performance targets.
  • Apply understanding of financial engagement economics and engagement risk and quality management.

Knowledge Acquisition

  • Build client relationship skills, sector knowledge and leadership skills.
  • Develop technical expertise, broader business advisory and people management skills.
  • Understand the market, topical issues and our Restructuring propositions.

People and Leadership

  • Support leadership in creating an inclusive environment.
  • Provide timely feedback and identify development opportunities (e.g., mentoring/buddying, supervising less experienced colleagues).
  • Continue to develop personal brand.

Business Development

  • Own elements of and contribute to business development.
  • Demonstrate an expanding network of external and internal contacts to meet and share ideas on initiatives.
  • Assist in running a sector or marketing key account team, including participating in and organising marketing events.
  • Assist in preparing research documents, pitches and client presentations.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong academic background at A level or degree level.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent), both time and exam qualified.
  • Analytical with strong IT skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of Restructuring Services/Insolvency with directly relevant experience or strong transferrable skills from a client-facing role in professional services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support working in a high-performance team.
  • Commitment and willingness to work under pressure, sometimes long hours, always placing the client at the centre.
  • Flexibility to transfer skills to complementary offerings such as Debt Advisory or Performance Improvement if market conditions change.
  • Ambition to learn and develop further.
