The predicted salary is between 500 - 1500 £ per month.

Under the supervision of the IOM UK Senior Private Sector Engagement Officer and with guidance from the Private Sector Engagement Associate, the intern will support with various tasks aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of UK private sector engagement efforts. This includes supporting with the mapping of UK private sector prospects and opportunities, documenting and disseminating best practices related to private sector engagement, tracking key performance indicators, planning events, drafting concept notes, and providing administrative support to assist in UK fundraising efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of donor outreach and engagement strategies to strengthen relationships with donors and strategic partners.
  • Assist in identifying and mapping new private sector prospects and support efforts to enhance existing partnerships.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to facilitate effective communication and engagement with private sector stakeholders.
  • Help coordinate initiatives that highlight IOM’s thematic expertise to the private sector community.
  • Document and share best practices related to private sector engagement across various thematic areas.
  • Support the monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the private sector partner pipeline, including data compilation and drafting reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating events, donor roundtables, and other engagement activities aimed at deepening partnerships.
  • Draft donor briefs, profiles, and bios in preparation for meetings and events.
  • Conduct research, draft concept notes, and compile relevant information to support fundraising initiatives.
  • Maintain and update donor records using CRM software (Salesforce), ensuring accurate tracking of donor activities.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as needed to support private sector engagement efforts.

Training Components and Learning Opportunities

The intern will receive training and hands-on experience across all stages of the private sector engagement process, including:

  • Donor identification and relationship building
  • Proposal development and fundraising support
  • Document preparation and event coordination

They will work closely with and receive regular feedback from the Senior Private Sector Engagement Officer and the Private Sector Engagement Associate. Through collaboration with experienced team members, the intern will develop key professional skills including:

  • Organizational and time management
  • Communication and interpersonal effectiveness
  • Strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement

Additionally, the intern will gain insight into the operations of the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Division and become familiar with tools and practices used in fundraising and donor management.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Relations, Business Administration, Communications).

Experience

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Languages

English is required for this role. IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish. Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
