A well-established and respected regional law firm, ranked among the UK’s top 30 conveyancing practices, is looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to join its busy and supportive Residential Conveyancing team. The firm has grown steadily since 2012 and now has a team of over 100 legal professionals across the Midlands. It takes pride in its welcoming and collaborative culture, ensuring staff are rewarded and valued for their hard work.
The Role: As a Legal Assistant in the conveyancing team, you will provide vital support to Fee Earners and help deliver a high-quality service to clients. Duties will include:
- Taking client instructions, checking ID, source of funds and gift deposits
- Preparing and issuing contracts for sale
- Managing mortgage redemption requests and completion statements
- Ordering property searches and drafting transfer deeds
- Handling dictation, correspondence and replying to enquiries on freehold/leasehold matters
- Assisting with exchange of contracts, mortgage advances, pre-completion searches and setting up completions
- Supporting with post-completion work
- Regularly updating clients and agents on progress
About You:
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Conveyancing Legal Secretary or Assistant
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Confident with dictation, strong keyboard and IT skills
- Highly organised, accurate with great attention to detail
- Able to remain calm under pressure and manage busy workloads
- Professional, friendly and a strong team player who understands confidentiality
