Are you an experienced railway professional with knowledge and experience of roles like COSS, ES and PICOP? You already understand the track and the people who work on it. We're looking for people like you to help put new safety technology into the hands of the workforce - and to be part of a big change in how track workers are kept safe.
At Tended, we create first-of-a-kind safety systems that transform rail worker safety. Our geofencing solution has been named one of TIME's Best Inventions and has made the Digital Leaders 100 list for Geospatial Initiative of the Year. It's already out there on the track, helping to keep people away from the running line and improving on-site efficiency. Network Rail is committed to geofencing for the long term, and the rollout across the Wales & Borders Route is already underway. We're looking for an Implementation Lead to help us grow our capability on the ground.
Tasks
As an Implementation Lead, you're the bridge between Tended and our clients, guiding their teams through helping their teams get comfortable using our kit out on-site. You'll lead key client deployments on the ground, working closely with Tended's project managers to deliver an excellent service. Success in this role depends on building strong, trusting relationships quickly - so first-class communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Our technology is used by track workers with a wide range of technical confidence. You'll develop a deep understanding of our products so you can coach users through their day-to-day challenges and until they’re confident using it on their own. Being on-site also puts you in a unique position to see how our products are really used - spotting ideas for how we can make it better and feeding improvements back to the team.
Travel and working pattern
This is a field-based role centred on regular client site visits across the Wales & Borders Route. You'll spend at least 3 days a week in the depot and on site, with the remaining time working remotely or in person with your line manager. Because our users work shifts, this role covers both nightshifts and dayshifts, and includes weekend and bank holiday working - flexibility to meet the needs of the business and our clients is essential. In return, we have excellent policies covering travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses, as well as fatigue management and time off in lieu. A full driving licence is required.
Requirements
Even if you don’t feel you have all of the requirements listed below, we’d encourage you to apply, as we’re looking for someone who is willing to learn and grow with us.
- Essential
- You have experience as an ES, ESA, COSS, Site Agent, or in a comparable on-site leadership role within the railway or a related industry.
- You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to influence site teams and users, and turn them into capable users of our product. Experience of working with different roles, from track workers to site managers is desirable.
- You are comfortable with technology and enthusiastic to develop an in-depth understanding of our products to provide on-site coaching and support to users.
- You take a detailed approach and consistently follow established processes and procedures with accuracy.
- You instinctively take initiative to find and fix problems, thinking out of the box to find ways to make things better.
- Desirable
- You might have practical, hands-on experience of on-the-ground delivery of new technologies, delivering to a range of different kinds of users with different levels of tech-savviness.
- You might have experience with project management tools.
- You might have some experience in project management disciplines such as planning, managing risks, dependencies, issues, timelines, budgets, scope, deliverables and quality.
- You might have some commercial awareness, such as understanding how to demonstrate the value of our work to clients during delivery.
At Tended, we create first-of-a-kind safety systems that use some of the most advanced technologies on the market to transform rail worker safety. Our high precision positioning systems provide enhanced visibility and control, reducing the risk of incidents and delivering measurable cost savings to the rail industry.
