Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Senior Communications Manager to join our growing European communications team and play a pivotal role in building our regional communications function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, Europe and Americas, you will be instrumental in shaping our external narrative, building media and influencer relationships, content development and establishing best-in-class communications processes across our European markets.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that align with business objectives across European markets
- Partner with regional leadership to identify and amplify key business stories and milestones
- Create compelling narratives that position the company as a leader in both technology and entertainment sectors
- Support product launches, corporate announcements, and executive communications
Influencer Relations & External Communications
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media across business, technology, entertainment, and business verticals in key European markets
- Broaden the remit to include key influencers and substacks
- Proactively pitch stories and respond to media inquiries with speed and accuracy
- Lead and coordinate press events, media briefings, and influencer engagement
- Monitor media coverage and provide strategic counsel on emerging issues
Content Creation & Messaging
- Craft high-quality content for relevant channels from press releases, statements, blog posts, video other external communications materials for earned, owned, and social channels
- Develop key messaging frameworks and talking points for executives and spokespeople
- Collaborate with various business groups to ensure consistent voice across all communications
- Adapt global messaging for local market relevance and cultural nuances
Crisis Communications & Issues Management
- Support development of crisis communication protocols and response strategies
- Provide rapid response communications support during sensitive situations
- Monitor social media and news cycles for potential issues requiring proactive management
Executive Communications
- Build and support spokespeople in the region to confidently deliver Tencent’s story
- Support execs from HQ coming to the region to drive communications such as speaker platforms, media interviews
Function Building & Process Development
- Help establish scalable communications processes and workflows for the European region
- Contribute to the development of communications guidelines, templates, and best practices
- Support recruitment and onboarding of additional team members as the function grows
- Implement measurement frameworks to track communications effectiveness
Required Qualifications
Experience & Background
- 10+ years of communications experience, ideally with a mix of in-house and agency experience
- Proven track record in technology and/or entertainment communications
- Experience working across multiple European markets with understanding of regional media landscapes
- Strong media relationships across business, technology, and entertainment press
- Experience in high-growth or scaling organizations preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; additional European languages highly valued
- Strategic thinking with ability to translate business objectives into compelling communications
- Strong news judgment and ability to identify and capitalize on earned and owned media opportunities
- Crisis communications experience with ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Proficiency with media monitoring tools, CRM systems, and digital communications platforms
