Information about the school
We are a delightful one form entry Church of England school, rated Good by Ofsted.
We pride ourselves on our strong Christian ethos promoting strong family, carers and community values. We have very close links with All Saint’s Church, Brenchley and St Luke’s Church in Matfield. We are leading contributors in collaborative learning projects enhanced by our membership of the Tenax Schools Trust, a number of local partnerships and our involvement in the wider Teaching Alliance.
The School was founded in 1842 (before the state was actively involved in education) by the Church to serve our local, and wider community and as such this remains our mission today. Our aim is to serve all children and their families of any or no religion, heritage and culture.
We currently have around 192 pupils on roll. A staff of 7 teachers, ably supported by teaching assistants and support staff, delivering the curriculum to 7 classes, ranging from the rising 5s to 11-year-olds.
We enjoy good facilities and heavily promote the use of outdoor space and learning opportunities with exciting and stimulating play areas including a well-managed and used forest area plus a large field, surrounded by trees and meadows. This includes a conservation area, netball courts and a full-sized football pitch.
Our classrooms are both colourful and spacious and we especially enjoy celebrating our learning by proudly adorning our walls with our wonderful children’s hard work and efforts. We promote the use of technology and have a modern ICT Suite. We are fully networked with first class security protection and controls that are exercised diligently. We are lucky to have a large school hall, which is perfect to enjoy our celebrations for both school worship and whole school assemblies, rather unique given we have separate dining area and kitchen. Our library is well stocked in addition to a Special Needs area and other separate areas for group or individual learning.
We are immensely fortunate to have a very strong and hugely supportive Local Governing Body who work collaboratively with us to ensure the best educational and spiritual experience for all our children in our care. Our Parent Teachers Association is hugely valued by our wider school community and again serve us exceptionally well with their hugely successful fundraising events.
We are always pleased to welcome visitors into our school and to provide the children with these additional opportunities to demonstrate their successes. Maybe you would like to come and visit us soon?
