Our Client
Our client is a well-regarded, boutique consultancy working across the built environment, infrastructure and sustainability space. They partner with a wide range of organisations - from public sector bodies to private developers - providing strategic advice across investment, planning, project delivery and impact assessment. The Role
This is a hands‑on, varied role where you'll take ownership of the day‑to‑day finance function, while also contributing to wider business decision‑making. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing monthly management accounts and insightful financial reporting
- Developing and maintaining cashflow forecasts and financial models
- Managing accounting system (FreeAgent) (including reconciliations and day‑to‑day finance operations)
- Overseeing invoicing, billing and aged debt management
- Supporting month‑end processes, including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Liaising with external accountants (who manage payroll and statutory accounts)
- Monitoring cashflow and supporting working capital management
- Providing ad hoc financial insight to support business planning and growth
About You
You'll be an experienced Finance Manager (or similar level), comfortable working in a small business environment where you can take ownership and add value. You'll likely:
- Be a qualified accountant (ie, QBE, ACA)
- Have strong management accounting experience
- Enjoy a hands‑on role with variety and autonomy
- Be confident working with senior stakeholders
- Have experience in an SME, consultancy or project‑based environment (highly desirable)
- Be organised, proactive and happy to work independently
- Have experience of using online accounting systems
Location & Hours
Permanent position 2 days per week (or equivalent) Hybrid working - a mix of Southwark office (Weds) and home
Salary & Benefits
£60,000 FTE* (£24k pro rata) 25 days holiday + bank holidays (pro rata) Employer pension contribution Travel costs to the office covered (to be agreed) Laptop provided Full‑time equivalent - actual salary will depend on agreed hours.
