Make your finance expertise count. Are you an experienced Management Accountant looking for a role where your work has real purpose? Our client is a well-established charity that plays a vital role in supporting local people, charities and community organisations. They're looking for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of the management accounting function, provide insightful financial reporting and help shape the organisation's future. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining hands-on financial management with strategic thinking, while working for an organisation that genuinely makes a difference.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you'll be responsible for delivering accurate, timely financial information that supports informed decision-making across the organisation. You'll take ownership of the monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and financial controls, whilst providing technical leadership to the finance team and identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes. This is a varied role offering plenty of autonomy and the opportunity to make a tangible impact.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing monthly management accounts, commentary and variance analysis
  • Preparing cashflow forecasts and supporting budget holders with financial reporting
  • Managing journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns and ensuring compliance
  • Supporting the annual audit and statutory reporting process
  • Working with external auditors and professional advisers
  • Providing technical guidance and support to the finance team
  • Reviewing and improving financial processes and controls throughout the organisation

About You

You'll be an experienced Management Accountant who enjoys producing accurate financial information but also likes building relationships with colleagues across the business. You'll be confident explaining financial information to non-finance stakeholders and proactive in identifying ways to improve processes and add value. You'll also have:

  • Part-qualified or fully qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA (or be working towards qualification)
  • Experience producing monthly management accounts
  • Strong knowledge of journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
  • Experience preparing VAT returns
  • Excellent Excel and financial systems skills
  • Strong attention to detail and an organised approach
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and consistently meet deadlines

Experience within the charity sector, knowledge of SORP, Sage and statutory reporting would be advantageous but isn't essential.

What's on Offer?

  • Up to £50,000 FTE
  • Part-time (0.5 FTE), ideally over 5 days
  • Office based in Hemel Hempstead (with occasional home-working)
  • 35 days' annual leave (pro rata) including bank holidays
  • The opportunity to work closely with an experienced leadership team
  • A role where your financial expertise will directly support positive outcomes within the community.
