As they continue to evolve and strengthen their operations, they are looking for a Finance & Operations Manager to play a key role in supporting the organisation's financial sustainability, governance and operational effectiveness.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO, this broad and varied role will take ownership of the organisation's finance function while also helping to support smooth day-to-day operations across the business. The finance element of the role is central and will suit someone confident managing the full finance cycle within a charity environment, including SORP compliance, management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation and financial controls. Alongside this, the successful candidate will help coordinate operational areas such as systems, suppliers, IT, HR administration and processes ensuring the organisation runs efficiently and effectively.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Producing monthly management accounts, financial reporting and cashflow forecasting
- Leading budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning
- Managing year-end preparation and external audit processes
- Ensuring compliance with charity accounting standards and SORP requirements
- Overseeing Xero and maintaining strong financial controls and processes
- Supporting teams with financial insight and project costing
- Tracking restricted and unrestricted income and grant reporting
- Supporting governance reporting for senior leadership and trustees
- Coordinating operational processes, systems and supplier relationships
- Supporting ongoing systems and process improvements across the organisation
About You
We're looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong charity finance experience and excellent technical finance skills. You'll enjoy combining hands-on financial management with broader operational oversight in a small, agile organisation. You will ideally bring:
- Previous experience in a Finance Manager or similar senior finance role
- Strong charity finance experience, including charity SORP compliance
- Experience producing management accounts, budgets and forecasts
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Experience preparing for audit and managing financial controls
- Confidence communicating financial information to non-finance colleagues
- A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach
- The ability to work independently within a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Experience within a charity, social enterprise or purpose-led organisation would be highly advantageous.
