Our client is a dynamic and expanding group operating across property development, build-to-rent and construction. With multiple entities and a busy pipeline of activity, they offer a fast-moving, commercially focused environment where finance plays a genuinely influential role. You will be joining a small, collaborative Finance team, working closely with the Finance Director and managing a Finance Officer. This is a role for someone who enjoys autonomy, variety and being close to the commercial heart of a business.
As Management Accountant, you will take ownership of the group's management accounting and financial control, ensuring accurate, timely insight to support decision-making across the business. It's a hands-on role combining strong technical accounting with commercial awareness, ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and making things better.
Key Responsibilities- Produce monthly management accounts across multiple entities, including KPIs, variances and supporting schedules
- Complete balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, maintaining robust financial control
- Oversee month-end processes including intercompany recharges, management fees, accruals, prepayments and depreciation
- Support budgeting and forecasting across the group
- Manage daily cashflow reporting and support short- and medium-term forecasting
- Prepare and submit group VAT returns, including Construction VAT
- Monitor direct debit collections and maintain accurate schedules
- Oversee supplier and operational payments, ensuring appropriate controls and authorisation
- Oversee purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring correct VAT and CIS treatment
- Review and control transactional activity
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting quality
- Line manage and support the Finance Officer, providing guidance and development
- Assist with year-end processes and liaise with external advisers
- Provide ad hoc analysis and project support to the Finance Director and senior leadership team
- Fully or part-qualified ACCA or CIMA
- Strong management accounting experience, ideally across multiple entities
- Comfortable working in a small, hands-on finance team
- Confident explaining financial information to non-finance colleagues
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Experience in construction, property development or rental-based businesses
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior finance staff
- Exposure to project-based accounting environments
Working Pattern & What's on Offer: 25 hours per week, worked across 5 days (Monday-Friday). Hybrid working: typically 3 days in the office, 2 from home. Office-based role in Tunbridge Wells, with on-site parking. Salary £45,000-£55,000 FTE, depending on experience (£28,125-£34,375 pro rata). 25 days holiday + bank holidays (pro-rata).
