The Role
This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounts professional to step into a client-facing portfolio role, working closely with a Client Portfolio Manager and Partner/Director to deliver a high-quality, end-to-end service. You will take responsibility for a designated client portfolio, building trusted relationships, overseeing work delivery and supporting junior team members with clear progression into a Client Portfolio Manager or Manager role over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Client & Portfolio Management
- Managing day-to-day relationships with a portfolio of owner-managed business clients
- Acting as a key point of contact, responding to queries and resolving issues using internal specialist support where needed
- Producing high-quality year-end and management accounts with clear working papers and cross-referencing
- Preparing basic corporation tax computations and supporting schedules
- Analysing and interpreting client data to ensure accounts are accurate, meaningful and relevant
- Supporting and guiding junior team members working on your client portfolio
- Ensuring work is delivered to the required standard, on time and within agreed budgets
- Providing constructive feedback and escalating issues appropriately to Partners/Directors
- Acting as a role model and contributing to an inclusive, collaborative team culture
- Working with Partners to plan workloads, prioritise deadlines and support billing
- Understanding job economics, recoveries and chargeable time targets
- Taking responsibility for risk processes including KYC and engagement letters
- Contributing to business development activity and strengthening client relationships
- Building internal and external networks
- Developing your personal profile within the firm
About You
You will be confident managing client work and comfortable operating in a professional, advisory-led environment. You are likely to have:
- AAT qualification or be qualified by experience (ACA/ACCA desirable)
- Experience preparing statutory accounts and corporation tax computations
- Exposure to owner-managed businesses
- Experience using Sage, Xero and/or QBO (Iris experience beneficial)
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- The confidence to make technical decisions and know when to escalate
- A proactive, organised and client-focused approach
