We're working with a leading organisation operating within the data centre and mission-critical infrastructure sector to recruit a Technical Writer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected business delivering complex engineering projects across some of the UK's most critical facilities.

You'll be responsible for producing clear, accurate and professional technical documentation that supports the delivery, commissioning and ongoing operation of live data centre environments. Working alongside engineers, project managers and technical specialists, you'll ensure documentation meets the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

The Role

  • Produce, edit and maintain technical documentation for mission-critical and data centre projects.
  • Prepare Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, commissioning documentation, SOPs, EOPs, MOPs and technical reports.
  • Convert complex engineering information into clear, structured documentation suitable for both technical and operational teams.
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical and commissioning engineers to capture technical information accurately.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Manage document control, revisions and version management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support project handovers by producing high-quality client documentation packs.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with company procedures, client standards and industry best practice.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation templates, standards and processes.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines excellent technical writing skills with a strong understanding of engineering or critical infrastructure environments. You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Technical Writer, Technical Author or Documentation Specialist.
  • Experience within data centres, critical facilities, engineering, M&E, construction or building services.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and engineering terminology.
  • Experience producing O&M manuals, commissioning documentation or operational procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation.
  • Exceptional written communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple documentation packages simultaneously.
  • Confidence working with engineers, project managers and technical stakeholders.
