Our client, an international player in the optical communications market, is recruiting a Hardware Engineer for its HQ near Edinburgh. The candidate will deliver products to the telecom/datacom monitoring, test/measurement and transport segments.
Role Requirements
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand requirements for new designs and improvements
- Capabilities in schematic capture and PCB layout
- Ability to select components for designs in relation to performance, cost, availability, etc
- Design verification of new cards and systems
- Work closely with mechanical, firmware and software engineers to integrate hardware designs into products
- Work with operations engineers to release detailed design packs to manufacturing
- Work with manufacturing and software engineers to help develop production test solutions
Essential Skills and Experience
- Qualified to degree level in Electronic Engineering or equivalent discipline
- Relevant work experience
- An enthusiasm to learn new skills
- Ability to comply with the UK GOV National Security Vetting Procedures
Advantageous
- Cadence toolset experience
- Regulatory qualification (EMC, safety) of electronic products
- Understanding of power supply design
- Understanding of signal integrity for high-speed digital design
