Exceptional Opportunity to Build a Transport Department from the Ground Up

We are a leading manufacturer of high-quality windows, doors and specialist glazing products, supplying customers with premium products and outstanding service.

As our business continues to grow, we are creating a brand-new Transport Manager position and are seeking an experienced and ambitious professional to lead the development of our transport operation.

This is far more than a traditional transport management role.

It is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a blank canvas, shaping and developing a department from the ground up while playing a key role in the future growth of the business.

We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager or an ambitious Assistant Transport Manager who is ready to take the next step in their career.

The successful candidate will have the vision, leadership skills and industry expertise to create an efficient, scalable and compliant transport function.

The Role

Reporting directly to senior management, you will be responsible for establishing and developing a new transport division that supports our operational and commercial objectives.

While a small fleet is already in operation, you will lead the strategic development of the department, including fleet expansion, structure, processes and team development.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Developing and implementing the company's transport strategy.
  • As the transport manager you will manage all aspects of fleet operations, compliance and transport legislation.
  • Planning future fleet requirements, vehicle procurement and replacement programmes.
  • Designing and implementing departmental structures, policies and procedures.
  • Recruiting, developing and managing transport personnel as the department grows.
  • The transport manager will drive improvements in efficiency, service levels, utilisation and cost control.
  • Managing transport budgets and identifying opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence requirements, drivers' hours regulations and all relevant transport legislation.
  • Working closely with production, logistics and customer service teams to support business growth.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have

  • A recognised Transport Manager CPC qualification.
  • Proven experience in transport, logistics or fleet management.
  • Experience operating within a commercial transport environment.
  • Strong knowledge of transport compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, planning and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work strategically while remaining hands-on when required.
  • Experience managing change, improving processes and delivering operational results.
  • Ambition, drive and the desire to build and lead a successful department.

Previous experience within manufacturing, building products, glazing, construction materials or a similar sector would be advantageous but is not essential.

What We Offer

This is an exceptional and genuinely rare opportunity to create, develop and lead a transport operation within a successful and growing manufacturing business.

You will be given the autonomy, support and investment required to build a department that delivers excellence, with real opportunities to influence the future direction of the company.

If you are an experienced Transport Manager seeking a new challenge, or an ambitious Assistant Transport Manager ready to step up into a senior role, we would love to hear from you.
