We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN autism focused school. This is a full time long term opportunity working Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 3.30pm. The role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and has previous experience working within an SEN setting.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with children with special educational needs such as autism
- Strong understanding of supporting children with additional needs
- Patient, calm and resilient approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
A trial day will be required to determine suitability for the role.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with autism in the classroom environment
- Assisting the teacher with planning and delivering tailored activities
- Helping students to stay focused and engaged with learning tasks
- Managing behaviour in a positive and supportive manner
- Providing one to one support when required
- Encouraging communication and social interaction skills
- Assisting with personal care where needed
- Supporting transitions between activities throughout the day
