Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in East of England, are looking for an experienced Strategic Change & Engagement Lead to join their team and play a crucial role in their improvement plan operations.
Position: Strategic Change & Engagement Lead
Rate: £275 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (Oct 2026) Possible Extension
Purpose: To support delivery of the Council’s Improvement Plan and wider organisational change required to secure long-term financial sustainability.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a clear internal communications and engagement plan for the Council’s Improvement Plan, improving the quality, consistency, reach and accessibility of communications that support the Council’s transition to long-term financial sustainability.
- Review and strengthen internal communication channels, approaches and content to ensure messages are timely, targeted, accessible and understood across the organisation.
- Coordinate engagement activity across services, identifying communication risks, areas of concern and emerging feedback themes to inform future communications and engagement.
Job Requirements:
- Direct experience of working in or with local authorities is strongly preferred, with a sound understanding of the political, democratic and governance environment in which councils operate.
- Strong experience of improving internal communications, stakeholder engagement and change communications within a complex organisational environment, including the production of staff updates, leadership briefings and engagement materials that improve clarity, consistency and impact.
- Experience of working with elected Members, senior officers, political groups and cross-party stakeholders, including advising senior leaders on sensitive messages, briefings and lines to take.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
