Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy social housing client in Somerset, are looking for an experienced Income Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their debt recovery operations.
Position: Income Officer
Rate: £22.14 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (Aug 2026) Possible Extension
Purpose:
- You will work with team members and other teams to deliver a customer-focused service, which maximises income collection and supports customers through the impact of welfare reform.
- Take all appropriate action to maximise income collection from rents, service and other charges.
- Take all appropriate action to mitigate the impact of Welfare Reform on tenants and the business in general. This includes ensuring tenants’ income is being maximised, signposting tenants to debt and money advice services and taking action in line with our procedures to maximise income collection.
- Ensure systems, processes and procedures are fully utilised to ensure income collection is maximised.
- Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
- At least 1 year experience within a Income Officer role or equivalent.
- Knowledge of debt recovery processes and procedures.
- Awareness of legislation affecting the recovery of Housing Benefit Overpayments and/or Adult Social Care and/or Sundry Debt and/or any other debt recovery portfolio managed within local government.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
