Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in West Yorkshire, are looking for an experienced Senior Category Manager to join their team and play a crucial role in their procurement operations.

Position: Senior Category Manager

Rate: £34.79 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)

Contract Duration: Temporary (Aug 2026) Possible Extension

Purpose: To provide a professional, customer-focused service for the procurement of goods, services and works for the Council, within a category management framework.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To achieve best value and cost effectiveness, with an emphasis on achieving efficiencies and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the team have a full understanding and control of all third party spend associated with the category.
  • Maintain a planned, proactive approach to improve procurement activity within the category of spend across the Council.
  • Provide procurement guidance and deliver training to Council officers and elected members.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
  • At least 1 year experience within a Senior Category Manager role or equivalent.
  • CIPS level 6.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
