Principal Planning Enforcement Officer to join their team and play a crucial role within their planning enforcement operations.
Position: Principal Planning Enforcement Officer
Rate: £25.50 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (Oct 2026) Possible Extension
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Job Purpose:
- Take a lead role in the investigation and resolution of a wide range of planning enforcement cases.
Job Duties:
- Assessing cases in light of planning law and policy and making recommendations to managers on formal action to be taken (for example service of notices and prosecutions).
- Representing the Council at Planning hearings/inquiries, and in court. Liaising with legal advisors and colleagues to coordinate the Council’s case.
- Where relevant to the resolution of enforcement cases, acting as case officer for retrospective applications and/or supporting the negotiation of acceptable planning permissions.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
- Degree in a relevant subject, or relevant professional experience.
- Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) – Desirable
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
