Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in West Yorkshire, are looking for an experienced Occupational Safety Advisor to join their team and play a crucial role within their health & safety operations.
Position: Occupational Safety Advisor
Rate: £23.81 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (Sep 2026) Possible Extension
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Job Purpose: Working as an integral part of the Corporate Occupational safety team, carrying out duties as a competent person with regards to health and safety for the Council.
Job Duties:
- Contributing to a proactive health and safety function enabling managers and others to discharge their statutory duties.
- Developing a culture of ownership of health and safety amongst managers, in line with the Council’s Health and Safety at Work policy, its associated guidance and current health and safety legislation.
- Working with Council departments, services, schools and those who hold a council service level agreement, providing professional technical advice, support and guidance, monitoring performance and seeking opportunities for continual improvement of health and safety standards.
- Advise managers, staff and those who we are contracted with on health and safety matters, related policies, procedures and best practice.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
- Experience of developing or supporting the development of health and safety guidance, policies and toolkits.
- Experience of delivering health and safety training.
- NEBOSH General Certificate Occupational Safety and Health.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
