Tempting Recruitment are working alongside our client, a Local Authority, who are looking to recruit an experienced Shared Lives Officer to support the delivery of a high-quality Shared Lives service for adults with learning disabilities and other vulnerable people requiring care and support. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference by recruiting, assessing, supporting and monitoring Shared Lives carers, while ensuring safe, person-centred placements that promote independence, dignity and quality of life.

The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Assess, recruit and vet Shared Lives carers in line with Council procedures, quality standards and CQC requirements.
  • Prepare reports for Approval Panels and regulatory bodies.
  • Support the matching, introduction and placement of clients with suitable carers.
  • Monitor placements regularly to ensure standards of care, accommodation and safeguarding are maintained.
  • Review and update carers’ agreements, guidance and support plans.
  • Support carers to maintain accurate records, including medication and financial documentation.
  • Arrange respite care within the scheme and externally where required.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:

  • Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and/or vulnerable adults.
  • Experience assessing and supporting carers, placements or care services.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, care standards and person-centred practice.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work flexibly, solve problems and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong report writing, administrative and IT skills.
  • A commitment to equality, inclusion and delivering high-quality services.
