Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority based in East London, are looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join their team and play a crucial role within their Private Rented Sector operations.
Position: Private Sector Housing Officer (Compliance Team)
Rate: £29.97 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Duration: Temp (Jan 2027) Possible Extension
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Purpose:
- To assess housing conditions and management in private sector housing, give advice and take action as necessary, including enforcement action or grant assistance to ensure that living conditions and management standards are brought up to satisfactory standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Process applications for property licences, including inspection of housing conditions and assessment of management standards.
- Undertake enforcement action in respect of private sector housing using powers under all relevant legislation as delegated under the Council’s scheme of delegation.
- Prepare detailed reports or briefing documents containing detailed analysis of issues, proposals for implementation and recommendations for action.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation - Essential.
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent housing related qualification).
- A recognised HHSRS assessors training course.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
