Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Northwest London, are looking for an experienced Private Rented Sector Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their accommodation services casework.
Position: Private Rented Sector Officer
Rate: £31.35 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Duration: Temp (Dec 2026) Possible Extension
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Job Purpose:
- To be responsible for the effective discharge of the council’s statutory duty for households to whom the council owes a full housing duty by making a Private Rented Sector Offer (PRSO).
Job Responsibilities:
- To assess all applicants who the council owes the full housing duty to determine what kind of accommodation would be suitable for the applicant and their household or anyone reasonably expected to live with the applicant.
- To write and issue statutory S184/193 decision letters and letters of notification to other authorities where an applicant is rehoused outside the area.
- To develop and maintain a positive relationship with customers, tenants, resident organisations, other housing providers, council officers, contractors, elected members and other agencies to ensure high quality service standards are maintained.
Job Requirements:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Housing Act 1996, Part 6 & 7, as amended, housing needs issues, related legislation and case law.
- Knowledge of the impact of the Localism Act 2011 and the ability to discharge duty to homeless households into the Private Rented Sector.
- A good working knowledge of housing benefit rules and of the supply and demand issues related to public sector and private housing in a London council.
