Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority based in Southeast London, are looking for an experienced Housing Lawyer to join their team and play a crucial role within their Legal services.
Position: Housing Lawyer
Rate: Up to £50 per hour(Umbrella) - DOE
Contract Duration: Temp (Dec 2027) Possible Extension
Working Arrangement: Hybrid/Mainly Remote
Job Purpose:
- To be responsible to the Senior Lawyer (Housing & Litigation) for the conduct of legal work in respect of matters arising from the Council’s Housing functions, and the provision of legal advice and support to Chief Officers and their staff on such matters.
Job Responsibilities:
- You will manage a varied caseload of housing matters, including possession proceedings, disrepair claims, debt recovery, anti-social behaviour and housing enforcement, while providing practical legal advice to officers and members.
- All aspects of housing litigation in criminal and civil courts of competent jurisdiction e.g. debt recovery, possession proceedings, disrepair; private sector housing matters.
- To negotiate on behalf of the Council on matters relating to housing Managers in Government Departments, Public Authorities and other organisations.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
- You must be registered as a qualified solicitor with the SRA, barrister or legal executive permitted to practice within England and Wales and adhering to CPD requirements.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
