Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Southeast London, are looking for an experienced Highways Inspector to join their team and play a crucial role in their highways and traffic operations.
Position: Highways Inspector
Rate: £28 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temp (Feb 2027) Possible Extension
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Job Purpose: Accountable to the relevant Group Manager or Principal Engineer for the carrying out of safety inspections of the highway, managing minor repairs, and responding to service requests from residents.
Job Responsibilities:
- Undertake routine safety inspections of the highway.
- Inspect work by contractors and statutory undertakers, checking for quality and quantity and materials as per specification.
- Programme and carry out minor surveys and census work as required.
Job Requirements:
- Thorough practical and theoretical knowledge of highway construction materials and techniques and knowledge of new road construction.
- A degree in engineering/related discipline, or an equivalent qualification, for example, HNC/ONC in Civil Engineering, or relevant experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
