JOB DESCRIPTION
The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
- To support the Assistant Director of Legal Services in managing the Legal Service, including taking part in the Departmental Management Team and offering strategic leadership to the employees in the People team, including ensuring staff development.
- To oversee and supply legal services in the People Team in an economical and efficient manner while fostering a culture of customer satisfaction, ongoing development, and service excellence.
- To guarantee that the trading account is financially sustainable, that the team and individuals fulfill their billable targets, and that performance is consistently of a high caliber by keeping an eye on staff resources and budgeting accordingly against work needs.
- To approve and supervise the advice of attorneys and outside legal experts as needed.
- Attending and advising Committees, as well as regularly advising Executive Members, the Chief Executive, Directors, Assistant Directors, and other officers and Members as appropriate.
- Create a strong, resilient team and make sure that the team culture is in line with the Council's corporate values. This entails assessing the efficacy of current working practices and developing innovative service development strategies in collaboration with pertinent colleagues.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:
- A CILEX Fellow, Barrister, or Qualified Solicitor with the ability to practice in England and Wales.
- Substantial and broad experience in litigation and/or social care.
- Capacity to oversee finances.
- Demonstrated ability to come up with original answers for a variety of legal problems.
