Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in Northwest London, are looking for an experienced Compliance & Safety Lead to join their team and play a crucial role in their property compliance operations.
Position: Compliance & Safety Lead
Rate: £36.25 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (Dec 2026) with Possible Extension
Purpose: To lead the operational delivery of statutory compliance and safety programmes across the Council’s corporate estate, ensuring all required inspections, servicing, testing, and remedial actions are completed in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- To act as the Council’s lead officer for day-to-day compliance management, overseeing fire safety, water hygiene, electrical safety, gas safety, asbestos management, lifts, and other statutory building safety systems.
- To ensure compliance activity is effectively planned, monitored, recorded, and evidenced through robust systems, accurate reporting, and audit-ready documentation.
- To manage the Technical Compliance Officer and Business Support Officer, ensuring accurate coordination, record-keeping, and progression of compliance-related works.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
- At least 1 year experience within a Compliance & Safety Lead role or equivalent.
- Significant experience delivering statutory compliance programmes in a complex property/FM environment.
- Strong multi-discipline experience in fire, water, electrical, gas, lifts and asbestos compliance.
- Degree in FM, engineering, or related field; or equivalent technical experience.
- NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) and membership of IWFM.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
